Annual Concert
An annual big event organized by SAMYA Foundation as a celebration to bring together all the participants of SAMYA Dance and Movement Therapy program and their families on one common stage in presence of dignitaries. Participation comes from all over the state from partner organizations, as well, who follow SAMYA model of Dance and Movement Therapy for their children and adults with developmental disabilities. Our annual concert focusses mostly on confidence building and self awareness through rehearsals and creates awareness all over the city through our messages all over in the form of big banners to create general awareness. Even hand painted costumes are prepared by the participants themselves, to understand the process of getting prepared for a stage performance. This is also a platform for our trainers to showcase their talents, and for mothers of persons whose lives have been touched with disabilities to come together and join hands in making a difference. Each concert is divided into three specific sections, ‘Awakening (presented by trainers)’, ‘Empowerment (presented by children and adults with special needs)’, and ‘Liberation (presented by mothers of persons with special needs}’. The programs are conceptualised and directed by Dr. Aditi Bandyopadhyay.
